The 17th meeting of the mixed Belarusian-Iranian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation took place in Minsk. As a result of the negotiations, Belarus and Iran agreed on a cooperation plan for 2025 in promising areas.
The document includes a wide range of issues, including in the field of trade and industry, agriculture, electricity, transport, healthcare, education, sports.
In addition, states are interested in developing their transit potential. The Iranian side told how the construction of sections of the Rasht-Astara railway and along the route towards the port of Chabahar is progressing. This one of the largest ports in the country is a key element in the international North-South transit corridor.
Belarus, in turn, is interested in opening direct air services on the Tehran-Minsk-Tehran route using Iranian air carriers.
Over the past few years, contacts with Iran have been established at all levels - from top management to experts. Starting from 2022, there has been a steady increase in mutual trade volumes. If in 2022 it increased three times compared to the previous year, then at the end of 2023 it increased on an even larger scale. In 2024 it also shows growth.
The Minsk branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is actively exploring the region. Cooperation is underway through the Chambers of both countries, and meetings are being held with representatives of Iranian business circles. Last year, a visit to Tehran took place, thanks to which the participating companies are already implementing joint projects.
