Meeting of the General Director of the Brest branch of the BelCCI Labun V.B. with the General Secretary of the Association of Chinese Companies Zhao Qingqiu

On February 22, a reception was held at the Brest branch of the BelCCI of the Deputy Chairman and General Secretary of the Association of Chinese Companies, Ms. Zhao Qingqiu. The meeting took place at the discretion and on invitation of the General Director of the Brest branch Valery Labun with the participation of the Head of the Administration of the FEZ “Brest” Mikhail Samolazov and the Director of the Brest Science and Technology Park Dmitry Makaruk.

The meeting was opened by Valery Labun, thanking Ms. Qingqiu for the kindly accepted invitation and visit to the city of Brest. Then there was a presentation of the activities of the regional chamber of commerce and industry, the economic potential of the region, up-to-date information on cooperation between the Brest region and China in the context of mutual trade, investment, education, tourism, including the implementation of existing cooperation agreements with the provinces of Hubei, Anhui, Liaoning.

It was noted that due to the COVID-19 pandemic that began in 2020, regular face-to-face meetings and contacts were suspended, but the recent removal of restrictions in China gives hope for their renewal. Further, presentations of the FEZ “Brest” and the Brest Science and Technology Park were held, during which all parties discussed various areas and opportunities for deepening further cooperation. Zhao Qingqiu said in her response that the Association of Chinese Companies is a state structure created by the Ministry of Commerce of China and includes 53 fairly large Chinese companies carrying on business in Belarus. The Association of Chinese Companies is interested in cooperation with the regional branches of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and receiving recommendations on promising areas of cooperation and investment, as well as assistance in the implementation of trade, economic, educational, cultural projects in Belarus and China.
