11 June 2025

From June 10 to 11, a working visit of Ashok Kumar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Belarus, to the Brest region took place.

During his visit and acquaintance with the region, on May 11, the Indian diplomat also visited the regional chamber of commerce and industry.

In turn, business representatives interested in entering one of the fastest growing markets in the world and establishing cooperation with Indian partners were invited to the meeting. The meeting with the participation of the management of the “Brest” FEZ Administration, Brest Science and Technology Park, representatives of such well-known enterprises in the region as OJSC “Ekzon”, OJSC “Brest Distillery “Belalko”, LLC “Agropishcheprom” and LLC “Destylemebel” was very businesslike and constructive.

Valery Labun, General Director of the Brest Branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, thanked the distinguished guest for this visit and the opportunity to discuss ways of business cooperation. In addition, a number of proposals were voiced that go beyond business, such as holding master classes for young chess players of the Brest region by Indian grandmasters. The Indian side responded enthusiastically and promised to facilitate the implementation of this idea.

But the main focus, of course, is on the economy and business cooperation. Increasing foreign trade turnover and developing partnerships is one of the main tasks for both sides.

Belarusian enterprises presented their capabilities in a comprehensive manner and expressed interest in finding business partners to supply the Indian market with alcoholic beverages, equipment for food production, modern modular upholstered furniture, as well as establishing contacts with suppliers of raw materials for the production of dietary supplements and medicines, in cooperation in the field of IT projects and the creation of robotic complexes.

Numerous materials have been handed over to the Indian diplomat, and the dialogue will most likely continue within the framework of the Belarusian-Indian Business Forum planned for 2025 in Minsk.
